Multiple Landmarks in Individual Photos

      On this page, I indulge my passion for getting two or more landmarks into one photo.  

     For the photo above, I waited about ten minutes to get just the right shot.  I took this photo from the MRT platform at Yuan Shan Station.  In the foreground is the Taipei baseball stadium at which the Taipei Flora Expo was taking place.  The plane is landing at the Sung Shan Airport.

     I had to wait ten minutes or more for this shot.  Several times, an MRT train rolled into the station and obscured my view just as a plane was flying overhead.  Since the day was slightly overcast, you're unable to see the Taipei 101 Building in the distance.  That would have been the icing on the cake.

     The next two photos were taken from a tour bus entering Taipei.  You can see five landmarks in the second photo.  From left to right, they are Taipei Main Station, Taipei 101 (in the distance), the South Gate, the Hsin Guang Building (the nearer of the two skyscrapers), and (enshrouded in green construction material) the Old Post Office Building.  

     It took me a long time to get these shots.  Either the weather was overcast, smoggy, or rainy; or I forgot my camera; or the windshield was dirty or fogged over.  I also had to snap the shutter when no light poles were in the way.

Taipei Landmarks

      Anybody can take a picture of a famous landmark.  All he needs is a camera and proximity to a famous landmark.  I like to take pictures from unusual perspectives.
     In the picture above, one can see images from three sections of the city.  From across the Keelung River wetlands, you can see the Grand Hotel, which is near the Jiantan MRT Station; and the Taipei 101 Building in the Nangan District on the other side of Taipei.
     At the time it was built, Taipei 101 was the tallest building in the world.  It can be seen from almost any part of the city and beyond.

     Here's the "beyond" to which I was referring.  These two photos were taken only a couple of miles from Guandu, which is only a few miles from Danshui.  In the photo, above left, Taipei 101 can be seen from across the Guandu wetlands.  In the photo, above right, taken from across the Keelung River, you can see three Taipei landmarks.  On the left side of the picture, you can see the Grand Hotel and Taipei 101.  On the right side of the picture, you can see the Hsin Guang Building in the middle of the downtown area.

     In the photos above, the Hsin Guang Building can be seen from two perspectives: from across the Keelung River and from the 228 Peace Park near the Hsin Guang Building.  The domed building at left is a library.
    Below is a photo of four landmarks: the North Gate, Taipei 101, the Hsin Guang Building, and the Old Post Office.  Taipei 101 can barely be seen between the North Gate and the Hsin Guang Building.
